IPU exam pattern & eligibility criteria

The eligibility criterion for the IPU CET 2019 that is released by the Guru Gobind Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) varies depending upon the program and categories. Only the candidates that fully satisfy the eligibility criteria will be accepted for admissions in various courses.

Even though the eligibility conditions may vary depending on different courses, the general conditions are as follow:

Nationality: Indian

Age limit for UG course: Lower age limit is 18 years; Upper age limit is 21 years

Age limit for PG course: Lower age limit is 21 years; Upper age limit is 35 years

Minimum qualification for UG course: 10+2 board or any other equivalent exam

Minimum qualification for PG course: Graduation

The upper age limit for Bachelor of Vocation is 45 years. The lower limit will be changed to 16 years from December 31, 2019, onwards.

The upper age limit for the MPH (FE) program is 45 for service candidates and 35 for direct candidates.

Candidates with disabilities such as blindness, deafness, and muteness are not eligible for the exam.

It is important to note that IPU has a reservation system that it follows which is based on the domicile of and the program chosen by the candidate. Reading the guidelines before applying for the IPU CET 2019 is a must. These conditions apply to all programs.

The B.Tech program is eligible for students who have cleared class XII with science stream.

The minimum aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry in class 12 should be 55%.

The candidates are also required to clear the English (core/elective/functional) exam.

The candidates must appear for the JEE Main Paper – 1 to seek admission in GGSIPU. IPU does not conduct entrance exams for this course and is entirely based on the score of the JEE paper.


The candidates are required to score 50% minimum aggregate in class 12 along with clearing the English (core/functional/elective) paper.


To get an admission in the IPU MBA colleges, the candidate should have 50% aggregate in any (3 or 4 years’) bachelor’s degree, OR They should have cleared the final exam of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or England, the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India or England or the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

Admission is based on the marks scored in the CAT exam so the students must appear for it.


The candidates should have passed class 12 with a minimum of 50% aggregate.

They should also clear the English (core/functional/elective) exam.

Candidates must appear for CLAT – UG as the admission is solely based on the marks achieved in the exam.

IPU also conducts entrance exams for some courses. The exam pattern of these exams has prescribed the university in the guidelines. The exams are conducted in the English language although, for B.Ed., the questions will be asked in Hindi as well.

The exam is conducted in the paper-based mode and the duration of these exams is two hours and 30 minutes but for the B.Tech Biotechnology program, the duration is of complete 3 hours.

Candidates are allowed to use only blue and black colored ballpoint pens to mark the answers. The questions are objective type questions and four marks will be allotted to the student for each correct answer. Negative marking of one mark will be done on each incorrect answer and questions that have more than one answer marked will also be considered as wrong answers.
